TV Show Host — born 1974
Jimmy Fallon is a famous American television host, actor and comedian.
Jimmy Fallon is an American actor, comedian, TV host, and producer whose three-decade career has produced multiple defining American TV-comedy roles — particularly his 2014–present lead host role on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (succeeding Jay Leno's 1992–2014 lead host tenure). He was born James Thomas Fallon Jr. on September 19, 1974, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York City, into an Irish-Catholic-American working-class family. His father James Thomas Fallon Sr. was an IBM repairman, and his mother Gloria Fallon was a homemaker. The 1979 family relocation to Saugerties, New York launched his early-career path.
His education at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York (B.A. in Communications, 2009 — completed via independent-study correspondence after his 1995 transfer from his Saint Rose computer-science major to professional comedy) launched his early-career path. His 1990 first New York comedy-club performance at age 17 launched his early-career American stand-up-comedy public profile.
His 1998 hiring as a featured player on NBC's Saturday Night Live launched his 1998–2004 American TV-comedy public profile. His six-year SNL run produced his sketch characters — particularly his impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, John Mayer, and his 1999 "Boston Teens" recurring sketch with Rachel Dratch. His 2000–2004 SNL Weekend Update co-anchor role (with Tina Fey) produced his early-2000s American TV-comedy public profile.
His March 2, 2009 first-broadcast appearance as the host of NBC's late-night talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (succeeding Conan O'Brien's 1993–2009 Late Night tenure) launched his 2010s American late-night TV-comedy public profile. His February 17, 2014 promotion to NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon produced his 2010s and 2020s American late-night TV-comedy public profile. The Tonight Show's continuous Tuesday–Friday-evening 11:35-PM time-slot broadcast has continued through the present. He married American producer Nancy Juvonen in 2007, and the couple has two daughters.
His name Jimmy is the English diminutive of James (from the Hebrew Ya'akov). Jimmy has been continuously among the most-popular American boys' names since 1880.
