Kim Kardashian
Reality Star — born 1980
Kim Kardashian is an American reality TV star, model, businesswoman and socialite.
Kim Kardashian is an American media personality, businesswoman, and socialite whose two-decade career has produced multiple defining 21st-century American celebrity-and-reality-TV roles — particularly her 2007–2021 lead role across E! Network's reality-TV series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She was born Kimberly Noel Kardashian on October 21, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, into an American Armenian-American show-business family. Her father Robert Kardashian was an American attorney (best known as one of O. J. Simpson's defense attorneys across the 1995 O. J. Simpson murder trial), and her mother Kris Jenner is an American TV personality. Her older sisters are Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, her younger brother is Rob Kardashian, and her younger half-siblings (from Kris Jenner's 1991 marriage to Bruce Jenner, now Caitlyn Jenner) are Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Her early-career 2003–2007 work as a Beverly Hills personal-shopper and stylist (particularly to American singer-actress Brandy Norwood, with whom she shared a Beverly Hills apartment across 2003–2004) preceded her 2007 viral leak of the Kim Kardashian–Ray J private sex tape (which was filmed in 2003 during Kardashian's relationship with American singer Ray J). The 2007 sex-tape commercial release by Vivid Entertainment produced approximately $1.4 million in 2007 commercial-distribution profits.
Her October 14, 2007 first-broadcast launch of E! Network's reality-TV series Keeping Up with the Kardashians — produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions — launched her late-2000s and 2010s American reality-TV public profile. The series ran for 268 episodes across 20 seasons (2007–2021).
Her parallel late-2000s and 2010s American businesswoman career has produced multiple American commercial ventures — particularly her 2010 founding of the DASH boutique chain (with sisters Kourtney and Khloé), her 2014 launch of the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood mobile-game app (which produced over $43 million in 2014 commercial-licensing profits), her 2017 founding of the KKW Beauty cosmetics line, her 2019 founding of the SKIMS shapewear-and-loungewear brand, and her 2024 announcement of the SKKN BY KIM skincare line. She married American R&B singer Damon Thomas in 2000 (divorced 2004), American basketball player Kris Humphries in 2011 (divorced 2013), and American rapper Kanye West in 2014 (divorced 2022). She has four children with West.
Her name Kim derives from the English diminutive of Kimberly (from the Old English place-name meaning "royal forest meadow"). Kim was a popular American unisex name through the 1960s and 1970s.
