Romeo Miller
Rapper — born 1989
Romeo Miller is an American rapper, model, actor, basketball player, and entrepreneur.
Romeo Miller is an American rapper, actor, basketball player, and businessman whose three-decade career — much of it as part of his father Master P's No Limit Records dynasty — has made him one of the most-recognizable American Black-celebrity-family figures of his generation. He was born Percy Romeo Miller Jr. on August 19, 1989, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the eldest son of American rapper and entrepreneur Master P (Percy Miller). He has six younger siblings, including basketball-and-actor brother Hercy Miller and singer Cymphonique Miller.
His moment came at age 11 in 2001 when he released his debut album Lil' Romeo through his father's No Limit Records. The single "My Baby" — built around a Jackson 5 "I Want You Back" sample — reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the American rap-and-R&B songs of 2001. The Lil' Romeo persona made him one of the most-iconic preteen rap stars of the early 2000s.
His parallel career as a child actor produced the Nickelodeon TV series Romeo! (2003–2006), which ran for three seasons across 53 episodes and made him one of the American kids'-TV stars of the early 2000s. He also appeared in films Honey (2003) and Madea's Witness Protection (2012). He attended the University of Southern California from 2008 to 2010 on a basketball scholarship, then transferred to the University of New Orleans before completing his undergraduate degree.
He has continued to release music selectively across subsequent decades and has been involved in his family business empire — including the No Limit Forever Records label, the Better Black Television digital network, and various real-estate investments. He has been continuously visible across American hip-hop-related TV programs and social-media platforms. He continues to be one of the most-iconic American hip-hop-family-business figures of his generation.
His name Romeo is from the Italian Romeo meaning "pilgrim to Rome" — anchored in literary tradition through William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Romeo has been continuously climbing in American naming since the 2000s and currently sits in the US top 200 boys' names.
